From Dan Panfili, Product Specialist
Pro Tips from Shasta’s Pool Experts
- “This is really about keeping your spa carefree—spray the cartridge down, rinse it off, and you’re right back in business.”
- “Most of what loads up spa cartridges is oils, lotions, and minerals, and this does a solid job knocking that stuff loose.”
- “There’s no fixed calendar for cleaning. Some people do it every couple months, others sooner—it really comes down to how much the spa gets used.”
- “If you’ve got a lot of people in the spa, you’ll want to clean the cartridges more often. Higher bather load just means more buildup.”
- “I like that it works with all sanitizers, so you’re not changing your system—just keeping the filter cleaner.”

FAQ
Our expert staff answers customer's most asked questions.
What are the ideal chemical ranges for my pool?
Achieving a balanced pool involves maintaining a pH range of 7.2–7.8, total alkalinity between 80–120 ppm, calcium hardness at 180–220 ppm, and cyanuric acid (stabilizer) within 30–50 ppm. Chlorine levels should consistently fall within the 1–3 ppm range, by may need to be increased as CYA levels go above 60 PPM.
How often should I test my pool water?
Regular testing, ideally once a week, ensures that chemical levels are within the recommended range. This practice ensures that your pool is always ready for enjoyment.
How often should I drain my pool?
It is recommended to drain your pool every three years to eliminate accumulated chemicals and dust. This varies depending on many environmental conditions like fill water and the type of chlorination you are using. Our advice is to have your water tested before and after by a local pool professional.
