    The Pentair 523038 lamp is compatible with 522638 and 522945 BioShield Models. The lamp sits inside the 65" 523042 quartz sleeve and provides the UV energy that enables the BioShield system to sanitize the water. The UV sanitization process helps inactivate microorganisms that flow through the BioShield unit.

    Clean Your Quartz Sleeve During Inspection:

    When you inspect the lamp also check the quartz sleeve and clean off any scale, mineral buildup, or cloudiness. If it remains dirty looking even after cleaning replace it. If the sleeve is dirty, it will not allow UV energy to pierce through the sleeve and will make the system less efficient.
