The Pentair 272568Z replaces that entire top assembly rather than the O-ring alone.

The Multiport Valve Top Assembly replaces the valve handle. The valve handle controls switching between 6 different modes: filter, backwash, rinse, waste, recirculate, and closed. It also provides a perfect seal for the top of your multiport valve with the installed internal drive shaft O-Rings and spider gasket.

  1. If you notice your multiport valve is leaking at the handle, not easily changing position, or does not lock in position then replacement will be needed.
  2. If the valve body or housing is still in good condition. Then you do not need to replace the whole valve, instead use the Pentair 272568Z to replace the valve top assembly only.
  3. When installing it is important to not run the pump when working on or changing positions on your multiport valve. Turn the pump off and relieve the filter of pressure.
  4. Do not apply lube to the spider gasket it will collect sand and damage it. While installing the valve top hand tightening is suggested at first to avoid damaging the valve.
  5. We suggest to not tighten each bolt down at once and tighten them in even increments. This will make sure that the spider gasket is evenly compressed and not damaged.
  6. While the pump is still off and you are done installing, turn it to the rinse position. Now you can turn the pump back on when the multiport valve top assembly is installed or positions have been moved. Run the pump for 30 to 60 seconds and this will clean out any debris and test out the newly installed valve top for leaks.
